We Follow Gift and Hospitality Rules

Our business gets done without improper offers. Gift-giving and entertainment have always been a part of doing business, but there’s a difference between showing thanks and offering a bribe to close a deal. We know the difference, and we don’t offer or accept anything inappropriate.

The best approach is to follow the rules. Before you ever get involved in gift or hospitality situations, make sure you know what we allow under our Gift and Entertainment Policy. Also recognize that you need to follow the other party’s policies to make sure any offer you make is not interpreted as a conflict of interest or an attempt to improperly influence someone.

  • Are nominal in value, like promotional items.
  • Align with the law and our policies.
  • Are customary and reasonable, like an inexpensive business meal.
  • Are offered transparently and honestly
  • Are cash or a cash equivalent.
  • Are valued above the limits set in both parties’ policies.
  • Involve stock, special discounts, or loans.
  • Pay travel expenses or make charitable or political contributions.
  • Are offered frequently or for some non-business purpose.
  • Appear to create an obligation or impact a business decision.

We use care in every interaction. Whether we’re dealing with suppliers, distributors, or other business partners, we don’t permit any offers when something is expected in return. And we won’t allow anyone to make such an offer on our behalf. Even stricter rules apply when government officials are involved—never offer them anything, even the smallest gratuity.

Let your manager know about the gift immediately so you can determine the right course of action—returning it with an explanation of our policy, donating it, or sharing it with your colleagues may all be good choices.
