We Use Artificial Intelligence Responsibly

We respect the transformative power of artificial intelligence (“AI”). It means while we embrace the possibilities of AI for Panduit and our customers, it’s important for us to use, design, build, and deploy AI tools responsibly and ethically to maintain trust and confidentiality.

Panduit innovates with integrity. No matter how you have been authorized to use or develop AI in your work, make sure your use always complies with your authorization and applicable laws, as well as our policies and values. To practice good AI ethics, make sure any authorized use of AI promotes:

  • Goodness – Innovation that benefits and empowers people.
  • Privacy – Protection of sensitive and personal information.
  • Fairness and inclusion – Prevention of bias in our AI systems and outputs.
  • Transparency – Solutions that are easy to access and understand.
  • Accountability and reliability – Dependability and integrity throughout a product’s life cycle.

We’re careful with what goes into AI. We know AI learns by consuming information, and sometimes that information could be accessed by those outside of Panduit. That’s why we never feed intellectual property, confidential information, or personal information into public AI tools.

We’re careful with what comes out of AI. It’s important to remember that AI outputs aren’t always reliable or accurate. Never base important decisions on AI-generated content. Check to ensure accuracy and up-to-date information. Also understand the potential intellectual property issues that go along with using AI. For example, be just as cautious with AI-generated code, never incorporating it into any software or product Panduit is developing or has licensed.

No, it would not be OK without explicit approval. Before even experimenting or testing things out, you must discuss what you would like to do with your manager, IT, and the Legal Department. The reason for this is that even though you’re just experimenting and testing, that old code is also our intellectual property, which you have a responsibility to keep secure. Never put that information into a public AI tool, where it could be accessed by someone else.
