We Compete Fairly

Our hard work drives our success. We believe in maintaining a level playing field in business—competing ethically and honestly and attracting customers by offering innovative products and services. We don’t use unfair or deceitful practices to limit competition.

Following the law isn’t optional. Everywhere we operate, there are laws designed to protect innovation, competitive pricing, and customer choice. These antitrust or competition laws vary from country to country, but you must know and follow the laws that apply to your work. Reach out to the Legal Department if any law is unclear.

We never make improper agreements. In our conversations with competitors or other third parties, we must avoid discussing anything that could keep someone from competing. Use care in any conversation with a competitor. Never discuss inappropriate topics like these:

  • Pricing or product strategies.
  • Boycotts of customers, suppliers, or competitors.
  • Setting prices.
  • Dividing markets or territories.
  • Interfering with the bidding process.

We learn all we can about competitors, and we do so ethically. Our competitive research must be done legally and fairly. Never use fraud or deception to obtain information. That includes never seeking or accepting confidential information about a competitor, even from a former employee.

No, it wouldn’t. It’s just as unethical to accept confidential information or intellectual property as it is to seek it out. Don’t distribute the price list to anyone, save it, or copy it. Contact the Legal Department immediately for guidance on how to properly delete the file and respond to this customer.

A: As soon as an anti-competitive subject comes up, stop the conversation immediately. Explain that it’s inappropriate, and you can’t discuss it. Then leave the conversation and contact the Legal Department immediately for guidance.
